Polartec and Pontetorto to partner following legal dispute

US and Italian textile companies Polartec and Pontetorto have amicably settled pending litigation over intellectual property rights, and will now partner “to bring the best of both companies to customers”.

Originally filed last July to a German Court, the case suggested Pontetoto’s Technostretch and Tecnopile products were in breach of a patent Polartec holds.

However Polartec CEO Gary Smith said in a statment: “As a brand built on delivering innovative textiles solutions, Polartec must vigorously defend our intellectual property. While we entered into this action against Pontetorto as adversaries, we have discovered more common ground than differences, and put it behind us with excitement about the future. I look forward to partnering with Enrico and Luigi Banci to bring the best of both companies to our customers.”

Enrico Banci, Pontetorto CEO, added: “We are pleased to announce this historic agreement. The pending litigation has identified common ground and an opportunity for collaboration with Polartec and an amicable settlement has been reached. We’ve always respected and admired the reputation and positioning of Polartec as a high technology company.

"We feel honoured  to have been chosen as a partner for strategic development and are confident that this cooperation will result in improved products and service, while advancing the limits of future textile research. A special thanks goes to Polartec CEO Gary Smith for his confidence and personal involvement that has demonstrated future trust and vision.”
