Anta Sports bounces back

11/08/2014
Chinese sports footwear brand Anta Sports has reported an increase in turnover of 22.4%  in the first half of 2014 compared to the same period last year.

Turnover in the first six months of 2014 reached nearly $670 million. Anta attributed the increase to success in its children’s business, its Fila business (it owns the the rights to the Fila brand in China) and its e-commerce operations.

Chief executive, Ding Shizhong, said he expects uncertainty to continue in China’s sportswear industry in the near term, arising from “intense competition and a lack of product differentiation”. However, he said Anta was the first big player in the domestic market to bottom out and “recover with significant growth”.
