“Incredible buzz” for Uniqlo at US Open

Uniqlo-sponsored player Kei Nishikori was soundly beaten in the men’s final by Croatia’s Marin Cilic, but his exploits on the way to the final, including a victory over world number one, Novak Djokovic, raised Uniqlo’s profile in tennis.
In fact, Novak Djokovic is also sponsored by Uniqlo and even before he and Kei Nishikori played in the semi-final, the clothing brand said it was in a no-lose position. Upon winning the semi-final, Kei Nishikori became the first-ever player from Japan to reach a Grand Slam final.
“We’re obviously very happy and proud,” Larry Meyer, chief executive of Uniqlo USA, told Associated Press before the semi-final. “The buzz we’re getting on social media alone has been incredible.”
