China’s cotton crop and yield to drop in the next 12 months

Official information from China at the end of September suggests that the country’s cotton growing area in the next 12 months are likely to be down year on year by 9.4%, covering a total of 4.2 million hectates.

Cotton yield is forecast to be 6.5 million tonnes, a decrease year on year of 7.1%.

Cotton demand in China is expected to exceed domestic supply by two million tonnes in the year from September 2014 to August 2015, official data showed.
