Alessandro del Piero is merino wool’s newest ambassador

A campaign involving the footballer, who played in Australia between 2012 and 2014, is now under way with the slogan Natural Talent, which the Woolmark Company said “embodies both the talent of Alessandro del Piero and the natural qualities of merino wool”. It said wool allows wearers to feel comfortable whatever they are doing and that “the great return” wool has experienced in recent years sports and outdoor apparel is proof of this.
“Australia has been producing most of the world’s finest Merino wool for more than 200 years,” said Rob Langtry, the Woolmark Company’s global chief strategy and marketing officer at the start of the campaign. “Natural talent always shines through and Alessandro Del Piero’s natural talent and familiarity with Australia will help us bridge the gap in consumers’ knowledge and demonstrate what happens when the world’s best natural talent meets the world’s finest natural fibre.”
