Chinese group invests in Pakistan, attracted by GSP Plus

Chinese manufacturer Shanghai Challenge Textile Company is reported to have taken a share of almost 25% in the equity of Faisalabad-based Masood Textile Mills.

Media in Pakistan have said this is the first such investment in a Pakistani textile firm by a Chinese group.

They have speculated that Chinese investors are being attracted to Pakistan by duty-free access to the European Union under the GSP Plus status.
