New policy strategist says FDRA has “moral obligation” to end shoe tariffs

Footwear trade association the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) has announced that former US Representative Sue Myrick is to become its key policy strategist. In a separate appointment, FDRA has announced Thomas Crockett as its new director of government and regulatory affairs.

FDRA president, Matt Priest, said he believed having Sue Myrick on board would help his organisation “elevate our brand name across Washington”.

Ms Myrick said she was happy to be part of an organisation “fighting to lower consumer costs and create jobs”. She added: “I believe we have a moral obligation to eliminate tariffs on footwear because they are a direct hit on the pocketbooks of lower-income and middle class families, people who can least afford it.”
