Swedish-Indian initiative to expand after water-saving success

25/03/2015
An initiative involving Swedish apparel retailers Indiska, KappAhl and Lindex and a group of their suppliers in India claims to have achieved annual savings of more than 280 million litres of water and of more than 400 tonnes of chemicals.

Called Sustainable Water Resources, the companies behind the project have said they will now scale it up to include 120 suppliers in different countries.

Core to the initiative has been a training programme that aims to teach textile factory workers good ways to save resources. In the two years it has run so far, more than 13,000 workers have received the training.
