‘Milestone’ for organic silk certification

30/03/2015

The Environmental and Ethical Certification Institute (ICEA) has announced that the standard for Organic Sericulture has been approved by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and will enter into force at the end of March 2015.

“The standard provides a meaningful and transparent frame for distinguishing organic silk products from conventional ones and will represent a milestone for the development of organic silk sector,” said ICEA.

The Global Organic Textile Standard is a technical regulation for organic textile certification, supported by the Organic Trade Association, IVN, Japanese Organic Cotton Association and the Soil Association.

ICEA is accredited by the Organic Accreditation Service for certifying organic textile products.
