Black Diamond confirms ownership structure decision led to president’s exit

08/06/2015
The European marketing director of Black Diamond Equipment, Stephan Hagenbusch, has confirmed to sportstextiles that the skiing, climbing and hiking apparel and equipment brand’s president, Zeena Freeman, has left the company, but that, contrary to reports elsewhere, chief executive, Peter Metcalf, remains in his role.

Ms Freeman joined the company in August 2014 and was earmarked to take over as chief executive by the end of June 2015 at the latest. However, she left abruptly on June 2.

In a statement to sportstextiles, Mr Hagenbusch said Peter Metcalf will now assume Ms Freeman’s responsibilities too, working closely with chief finance officer, Aaron Kuehne, and chief operating officer, Mark Ritchie.

He added: “This tide of events is in line with our board’s decision to explore a new strategic ownership structure for [Austrian safety device brand] Pieps, [Swedish helmet brand] POC and Black Diamond.”
