05/08/2015
Industrial sewing thread manufacturer American & Efird (A&E) has announced that its chief executive Fred Jackson, will retire from the company at the end of September. Mr Jackson will become non-executive chairman of A&E’s board of directors.

Les Miller, who has served as the company’s chief operating officer since February 2008, will be promoted to chief executive.

Fred Jackson has led A&E for almost two decades and has helped the company achieve record revenues and expand internationally. Under his leadership, the company successfully completed the acquisition of three former joint ventures in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and China, and of Gütermann, the fourth-largest company in the global thread industry.

These acquisitions expanded A&E’s geographic footprint, diversified its end-markets and enhanced its ability to serve customers globally.
