Rains remove concerns for Indian cotton crop

Analysts of the global cotton market have said there have been “no major setbacks” with crops in most countries in the northern hemisphere and that India looks likely to have a better crop than last season.

Specialist industry publication Cotlook said in its monthly report for July 2015 that rains in India have been good this monsoon season, despite a break in early July. A return of the rains later in the month alleviated concerns for the crop.

“Until late in the month planting was well ahead of last season, when the severely delayed monsoon hindered field-work prior to mid-July,” Cotlook said.
