Texon and Loughborough University join forces on footwear innovation

The materials research team from Loughborough University in the UK has partnered with footwear components supplier Texon to find new ways to enhance and improve the materials and manufacturing processes currently employed in the global footwear industry.

Research projects the two groups have targetted include footwear with embedded functionality.

Steve James, commercial director of Texon, said when the partnership was announced: “The next generation of footwear will be driven by the need to be produced faster, more efficiently and more sustainably than ever before if we are to conquer the challenges set by the modern market, and fulfil our responsibilities as a leading global supplier.
