Merrell aims to “bridge the gap” with cross-over shoe
Outdoor footwear brand Merrell has launched a new cross-over shoe for autumn-winter 2015-2016 in the UK market, saying the product, called Emergy, will “bridge the gap between the trail and the city” and help it break into the lifestyle arena.

Patented proprietary technology built into the Emergy includes M Select Fresh for breathability and M Select Grip for slip-resistant traction on wet or dry ground. There is a non-slip tongue with foam padding for comfort, a breathable mesh lining and hidden air cushions to provide durability.

Lead designer, Martin Dean, has said: “The challenge was simple – create a shoe that’s made for the streets but also ready to hit the dirt. Merrell’s heritage as an outdoor footwear brand also had a big influence on the design process. This is most noticeable on the sole, which takes inspiration from an indoor climbing wall and uses bold bright colours to contrast the shoe’s upper.”
