Covestro and Reverdia enter joint agreement on bio-based TPU

Covestro, formerly Bayer MaterialScience, and Reverdia have reached an agreement to develop and promote together thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) based on renewable raw materials.

Covestro will employ Biosuccinium succinic acid from Reverdia in the production of its Desmopan brand TPU for use in a variety of applications, including footwear.

Reverdia is a joint venture set up in March 2012 between materials sciences company DSM and Roquette Frères, a global producer of starch and starch-derivatives.
