FabricLink names Schoeller, Outlast and 3M among top textile innovators
Outlast Technologies' Universe filling material has been name among FabricLink Network’s top 10 textile innovations for 2015.
Organisers said the phase-change materials /down “adds lightness, volume and naturalness, while regulating and optimising the climate comfort”.
The awards are presented to textile-based materials and technologies that have launched during the past year and are commercially available.
The other recognised textiles are:
• 3M’s Thinsulate Featherless insulation, which is described as “breaking new ground in thermal insulation”
• Freudenberg Interlining’s nonwoven polyester lining material made from biodegradable fibres
• HydroTurf CS and HydroTurf Z armoring technology developed by US-based Watershed Geosynthetics
• Mount Vernon’s FR AMTEX PLUS and Carhartt Wind Fighter Technology: FR Extremes Arctic Outerwear for flame-resistant wear in extreme weather conditions without added weight or bulk
• Schoeller’s WB400 soft shells with memory foam
• Teijin Aramid's flexible carbon nanotube fibres that have“the potential to inspire super fibre developments in aerospace, healthcare, automotive and wearable smart clothing”
• AFM Heatsheets’ Ultraflect, a reflective, lightweight polyester woven insulation fabric with a single reflective-insulation layer
• VOORMI’s weather protective textile technology, a single-layer fabric with an integrated weatherproof membrane; and
• polypropylene brand CoolVisions’ wool blend, WoolVisions.
