Less talk, more action from Textile Exchange members
The managing director of the US-based Textile Exchange has said members are now ready to act on plans for sustainable sourcing rather than just talking about them.
Following the organisation’s sustainability conference in Mumbai in October, where brands and members met the farmers and spinning mills, La Rhea Pepper said she noticed a “big difference”.
“This year, we’re seeing so many action-oriented next steps. That’s the result of what I call the Catalyst Conversations – they were happening everywhere – during sessions, in the hallways, over meals and snacks and on our travels to the beautiful organic cotton farms. This year, the next steps aren’t to “get together and talk about what to do” – rather, “We talked about it before the conference, firmed up plans during our time together in India and now we are moving full steam ahead.
“That is a significant difference and one I’m thankful for.”
