Textile Exchange publishes revised standards following year-long review
The Textile Exchange has published a revised Content Claim Standard (CCS) 2.0 and Organic Content Standard (OCS) after a year-long multi-stakeholder review.
TE’s Lee Tyler led the International Working Group comprised of certification bodies, brands, supply chain members and other interested parties through the process to review needed changes to the document.
Both documents were restructured for greater clarity and readability.
Key changes in the CCS:
• Exemptions for post-production certification
• Contract warehouses only performing logistics functions are no longer subject to on-site Audits
Key Changes in the OCS:
• Recognition of International Foundation for Organic Agriculture family of standards
• Cotton gins and any other post-harvest processing must be certified to the OCS or GOTS
• Inclusion of GMO testing (manual guidance)
• Labelling language and logo requirements have been moved to the new OCS logo use and claims guide
The TE said: “All of the members gave their time and expertise to the process, and both standards are better for it. Feedback collected during the open stakeholder process is published, alongside our explanation of how the feedback was addressed.”
