Wearable electronics to drive nanofibre market to 25% annual growth, report says

Market research firm Technavio has said in a new report that the global nanofibre market is on course to increase in value from $455 million in 2014 to almost $1.2 billion by 2020, growing at almost 25% per year.

“The latest development in nanofibre is the ability to harvest external energy from the environment or the users, with the intent of storing that energy within the fabric to power devices,” the London-based market research firm said on launching its report. “However, in all such cases, the fabric is in direct connect (physical) with microelectronic components. Technavio’s market research analysts predict that textiles will be made from fibre that will contain smart devices, thereby introducing a complete and seamless smart function.”
