Pertex AP is, the company has explained, an ultra-high-performance waterproof breathable fabric that features “an advanced air-porous membrane” to offer high levels of durability and performance.
It has also described the new ultra-lightweight Pertex Shield+ as its lightest 3-ply waterproof breathable fabric. It offers high levels of wind- and water-protection with “excellent breathability”. Pertex has said the fabric will work well in apparel for fast-moving outdoor athletes and activities such as alpine climbing, cycling, adventure racing and skiing.
Brand director, Steve Laycock, said: “By altering the design, construction and finish, we are able to engineer products to suit a range of applications.” He named Montane and Rab as brands that have used Pertex Shield+ and Pertex Shield AP technologies in their collections for spring-summer 2016.
For the new season, Rab has reengineered its Flashpoint jacket for men and women with Pertex Shield+ three-layer fabric.
For its part, Montane will introduce the new men’s packable Minimus 777 Jacket and Minimus 777 Pull-On, both made with Pertex Shield+. These minimalist jackets are designed to go unnoticed in a pack but can be pulled out for emergency weather protection while still allowing the wearer to move quickly and comfortably.
Montane’s new men’s and women’s Air Jacket is a light, breathable and versatile mountain shell constructed with Pertex Shield AP. Designed with a 100% nylon rip-stop face and an advanced air porous membrane.
