Improved rubber and PVC are BASF’s targets with new antioxidants

Chemicals manufacturer BASF is to launch two new specialised liquid antioxidants that improve the efficiency of polymerisation in rubber and PVC.

Irgastab IS 6113L is for synthetic rubber, particularly butadiene rubber and styrene butadiene rubber, with shoes and gloves among the most prominent end applications that BASF envisions.

For PVC, the name of the new antioxidant is Irgastab IS 3026L, which the manufacturer describes as a cost-effective solution that improves the quality of PVC during the polymerisation process thanks to its thermal stability, uniform dispersion and easy dosing features. Tents are among the finished products that BASF imagines can be improved as a result.
