A researcher from the US’s University of Georgia has taken the first prize at the Green and Sustainable Chemistry Challenge, a German initiative that was established last year by Leuphana University and information solutions provider Elsevier.

Yunsang Kim was awarded a prize of €50,000 for ‘Sustainable Textile Dyeing using Nanocellulosic Fibers’ which he claims can greatly reduce wastewater and chemicals in the textile dyeing process.

He said:  "I feel responsible now for developing this project to the next stage and I will do my best."
