“The Turkish apparel industry has overcome many crises successfully and its 35,000 companies including 14,000 exporters continue to perform manufacturing and exporting activities without any problem,” said Hikmet Tanriverdi, chairman of the IHKIB.
He added that the measures announced by the Turkish government and the stability of the country’s financial markets mean that companies are able to “meet the demands of their partners”.
Describing the current situation as “challenging”, Mr Tanriverdi said that the IHKIB’s focus is to expand co-operation with its partners and to ensure that customers are not misinformed.
Apparel exports from Turkey are valued at approximately $17 billion, making it the world’s eighth most important supplier.
