Keen to show off new robot at Outdoor Retailer

In 2014, the company launched a new footwear platform called Uneek. The principle behind Uneek is to use two interlocking cords to make a shoe’s upper instead of building footwear out of flat materials that Keen says “don’t naturally conform to the shape of the foot”. As well as the original Uneek shoe, it brought out a sneaker called Uneek02.
Keen says it will continue to expand the Uneek line and will automate the platform using robotics; the robot it will take to Salt Lake City, developed with technology provider ABB, is called the Uneek robot.
The technology is capable of producing a Uneek shoe in half the time of the current production process.
