Nike reviews its India strategy and closes 35% of stores

Sports brand Nike has closed an estimated 35% of its stores in India, leaving approximately 200, according to The Times of India. Like most overseas companies, Nike works in partnership with local retail groups in India.

The newspaper quoted an industry insider as saying that, whereas Nike worked at one time with around 20 Indian partners, it has decided to reduce the number to three or four.
