28/09/2016
Pentland Brands has made a number of changes to its executive team, creating several new roles.

Chief executive of rugby-focused sports brand Canterbury, Chris Stephenson, will lead Pentland’s active division and Richard Newcombe, currently brand president for Lacoste Chaussures, will lead footwear across the group. These roles will take effect from January 1, 2017.

Earlier than that, on October 1, Chirag Patel, currently global vice-president for product and marketing at Lacoste Chaussures, will become the group’s director of global strategy. He and his team will be responsible for “the strategic shape and growth of the Pentland brand portfolio”, the group said.

Marco Ellerker, currently president of the group’s lifestyle division, has decided to leave the business.

Chief executive, Andy Long, said on making the announcement: “Our consumers and our customers are changing, and we need to change with them. These changes remove complexity in how we work and make us more agile and effective in the way we go after growth opportunities and integrate new brands into the Pentland family. It will help us to manage the overall portfolio better and simplify how we work with partners and retailers.”

Mr Long went on to say that a family ownership structure gives Pentland the ability “to plan and build for the long term, and to do business in a way that we can all be proud of”.
