According to analysts of the global cotton market Australia’s cotton crop could be almost 45% higher than estimates predicted in the 2016-2017 growing season.

Specialist industry publication Cotlook said in its monthly report for September 2016 that  optimism has been growing among Australian cotton farmers thanks to abundant rainfall in recent weeks. It said it had raised its estimate for Australia for  2016-17 to 900,000 tonnes (roughly 4 million local bales).
