Outdoor Retailer announces new tradeshow calendar

Outdoor Retailer has worked with the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) and Grassroots Outdoor Alliance to devise a new tradeshow calendar, which it says reflects the changing needs of the marketplace.

The Outdoor Retailer Summer Market will move to June 11-14 in 2018, with the Winter Market taking place from November 12 to 15. Moving these shows to earlier dates “enables it to serve as the industry’s launch event”, the organisers say. It will continue to provide a Winter Expo in January 2019. 

Grassroots Outdoor Alliance’s Connect events will co-locate with Outdoor Retailer’s shows, taking place from June 6 to 9 and November 7 to 10 in 2018. This allows the two shows to focus on the integration of outdoor brands and sales representatives. 

Outdoor Retailer also announced a partnership with Surf Expo to develop an event serving product categories that have later-season summer order deadlines. This will take place on September 6-8 in 2018. 

The calendar was agreed after consultation with specialty retailers, brands and segment leaders, who participated in advisory panels established by Outdoor Retailer. 

“It’s our responsibility to produce a platform giving specialty retailers and exhibitors the best opportunity to achieve their business objectives,” said Marisa Nicholson, Outdoor Retailer show director. 

“Understanding the needs of the industry was paramount in our collaborative work with both Outdoor Retailer and Grassroots Outdoor Alliance to provide a valuable and productive opportunity to preview product, launch the buying process and conduct important marketing and media discussions,” said Amy Roberts, executive director of OIA.
