Adidas CEO “extremely optimistic” about US market

The CEO of sportswear manufacturer adidas, Kasper Rorsted, said he is “extremely optimistic” that the brand will continue to grow in the US.

He made the comments during an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos Klosters, Switzerland (January 17-20), in response to a question about recently inaugurated US President Donald Trump’s proposed import tariff on foreign goods.

Mr Rorsted said he doesn’t expect the tariff to be imposed, but that it would “hurt the entire industry” if it were. “I don’t think that the new president will do anything to prevent our growth,” he added.

He predicted that digital marketing would be key to adidas’s growth in the year ahead. “We see a huge opportunity in our product line, but also through the conversion into a much more digital marketing environment,” he said.
