‘Critical tool’ label for Archroma colour library
Specialist provider of colour chemicals to the textile industry Archroma recently sponsored a seminar in New York that threw up some though-provoking suggestions regarding the colour of clothes people want to wear.

At the event, Jessica Colaluca, the founder of colour information resource Design Seeds, said global political events can change colour palette for an upcoming season; she gave the election of Donald Trump as US president and the UK’s imminent exit from the European Union as examples.

Ms Colaluca explained that people’s understanding and interpretation of culture can be changed by events and said ‘Americana’ and “how people want to relate to it was shaken” by the US election. She said a tool such as the Archroma Colour Atlas, a library that stylists, designers, brands, retailers and their suppliers can use, is of benefit in helping apparel brands and designers keep up with developments, adding that this is critical when consumers’ tastes can shift so quickly.
