Acai Activewear turns to Carvico for new collection
01/02/2017
The fashion trade exhibition in Birmingham, UK will serve as the launch pad for the new brand, which is based in Witney, Oxfordshire. It takes its name from the Acai berry, which is said to give energy-boosting health benefits.
The brand places high importance on the seem-free construction on the inner leg of its leggings, which is designed to eliminate chafing and skin irritation during exercise. It has also altered the position of the other seams on the product to give a better fit.
Kasia Bromley, creative director of Acai, explained to sportstextiles.com that the brand is very selective with the materials it uses. She said that its key products, which make up the majority of the Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, use a compression fabric from Italian fabric producer Carvico. It also uses material from another Italian supplier, Miti, which will show Acai’s products at its stand at the ISPO exhibition in Munich (February 5-8).
She added that several of its products use Lycra-branded fabrics from Invista. This includes the Lycra Sport range, which Invista relaunched in November 2016.
