Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), the Geneva-based non-profit organisation that works to promote greater sustainability in cotton production around the world, has said a training initiative it set up in Mozambique has now reached 79,000 cotton farmers in the east African country.

The BCI programme has focused on helping farmers look after precious water resources. Specifically, it has concentrated on teaching farmers to mix pesticide solutions away from water sources to prevent contamination.

“Together we are creating a future in which more families will have access to safer, cleaner water,” the organisation said.
