Momad Metropolis draws more international buyers
The February 2017 edition of Spanish apparel show Momad Metropolis saw nearly 15,000 visitors, 10% more than a year earlier, according to the event’s organiser IFEMA.

There was also a 14.4% increase in foreign buyers compared to the February 2016 edition, with 1,721 attending the three-day event, which took place in Madrid from February 3-5.

IFEMA revealed that these buyers came from 56 different countries, with Portugal, France and Italy the best represented. It described the attendance of buyers from Latin America as “notable”, because this is a target area for the event. There was also a rebound in buyers from Russia and Eastern Europe.

A total of 900 fashion and accessories brands exhibited at the event, showing their Autumn-Winter 17/18 collections and their prêt-à-porter designs for Spring-Summer 2017. The majority were from Spain, but there were 30 from France and 16 from Italy. The Fashion From Portugal programme, which is promoted by the Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association (ATP), also brought 36 brands to the show.

Among the new features of February’s edition was the Momad Sustainable Fashion area, which featured brands committed to responsible fashion practices. There were also a variety of talks and presentations on the subject.
