Rapha applies “2017 upgrade” to its fastest-ever cycling jersey

Developed using wind-tunnel sessions with professional riders, the Pro Team Aero is designed for high-speed training and competing in warm or hot conditions, Rapha has said. Upgraded features for 2017 include a high-stretch woven mesh fabric that offers a more comfortable fit on the arms, and a Vislon zip from YKK that is easier to use with one hand.
It also has what the brand calls a “smartly gusseted triple rear pocket construction” for storing food and other essentials. A reflective piping is included on the rear, as is a breathable mesh panel under the pockets to help with airflow and temperature regulation.
Rapha worked with an expert in aerodynamics in designing the jersey. As a result, the front and back fabric is smooth and dense to help improve airflow, while longer sleeves made of the textured mesh fabric create what it calls “turbulent flow”. This breaks up the air where the arms encounter wind resistance, thus enabling more efficient motion.
