Merger is a possibility for Huntsman

Chemicals group Huntsman has confirmed to business media that the spin-off of its pigments and additives business is going ahead, with the new company scheduled to be called Venator Materials Corporation.

However, recent comments from executive chairman, Jon Huntsman, and from chief executive, Peter Huntsman, have indicated that following the spin-off what remains of Huntsman could merge with another specialty chemicals company.

Peter Huntsman told Bloomberg at the end of March that a “merger-of-equals” transaction was a possibility the company would consider.
