Target to use RFID technology on apparel

04/04/2017
Technology provider Avery Dennison has announced a new global Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) partnership agreement with retail group Target Corporation. Target will use RFID tags in more than 1,600 stores to help it maximise inventory availability. The two companies have said this will be the largest deployment of its kind.

Apparel will be among the products to which tags will be fitted.

“In the apparel industry, having an accurate picture of stock availability is an important driver for retailers to deliver an optimised omnichannel experience,” said Bill Toney, vice-president for RFID market development at Avery Dennison.
