REI co-founder dies

Outdoor clothing and equipment co-operative REI has announced that its co-founder Mary Anderson has died at the age of 107.

She founded REI with her husband, Lloyd (who died in 2000) in 1937. At that time, Mary Anderson was a teacher.

REI has built up to have 6 million members and now has 140 stores in 36 states. It achieved record revenues of more than $2.5 billion in 2016.
