11/04/2017
It said at the time of the launch that VectorFootwear will help bring ‘Industry 4.0’ to the athletic shoe industry and “transform traditional cutting rooms into state-of-the-art digitalised domains for athletic footwear”.
The technology will also offer “major gains” in fabric optimisation, flexibility, productivity and performance, the technology provider said.
Chief marketing officer, Céline Choussy Bedouet, said at the time of the launch: “Firmly rooted in digitalisation and automation, VectorFootwear enables shorter time-to-market, the ability to produce more pairs of shoes per hour and to handle more types of fabric.”
Compared to traditional die-press production, Lectra’s digital solution can save up to 6% in fabric by minimising the gap between cut parts, combining several nestings together and cutting with accuracy, the company claimed.
Complementing VectorFootwear, Lectra has launched a footwear-specific nesting solution,
DiaminoFootwear. Fully automated, it also allows for quick and accurate cost simulations for fabric
purchases, it said.
