New Arc’teryx shoe celebrates “vertical” trail-running

Canadian outdoor brand Arc’teryx has launched an “enhanced” trail-running shoe, the Norvan VT. It said at the time of the launch that the shoe “blurs the edges” of trail-running by “adding scrambling and climbing capabilities”.

“Trail-running can be a vertical experience,” Arc’teryx said, on explaining that it has equipped the Norvan VT with “unique outsole technology” that allows for traction and support, even on “unpredictable” vertical terrain.

Giving further detail, it said the shoe has a custom Vibram sole that combines that company’s sticky Idrogrip material at the forefoot for traction on rock or wet trails with its Megagrip rubber compound for durability.

Other features include a hard-wearing 4-millimetre OrthoLite 3D moulded insert to cradle the wearer’s foot, and a light, rugged TPU film overlay to protect the forefoot, heel and high-abrasion areas.
