Vibram updates offering as Megagrip sales grow 30% a year
26/07/2017
For spring 2018, Megagrip will be used by five new brands as well as Merrell, New Balance, Orvis, Scarpa, The North Face and Vasque. Vibram will launch a marketing campaign in 2018 focusing on its grip performance.
The company is launching a high-performance rubber technology, Litebase Tech, at Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City. The technology consists of a vulcanization process that incorporates a thin layer of rubber-coated fabric into the rubber tread pattern, reducing thickness and weight.
Vibram’s finished goods collection, FiveFingers, will introduce three new styles. The V-Alpha will feature Vibram’s thinnest FiveFingers’ sole, a 3mm thick sole incorporating Megagrip, and a wool upper.
The V-Aqua, also incorporating Megagrip, is designed to provide grip in and out of the water on wet rocks, riverbeds and canoes.
The V-Soul is a women’s model featuring an open style upper with Velcro closure, which is lightweight and flexible and is targeted at cross fit and yoga.
Furoshiki, Vibram’s wrapping sole, gets an update to include gender specific lasts and new rubber toe cups for added protection and improved fit.
Vibram’s spring ‘18 collection will be on display at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, July 26 to 29.
