Vibram’s wrapping shoe is now fully waterproof
Sole and shoemaker Vibram has created the first fully waterproof version of its Furoshiki wrapping shoes. It calls this model the ‘Oslo’.

“The Oslo offers all the warmth and performance of a winter boot without any additional bulk,” said Chris Melton, Vibram’s director of sales and distribution for finished goods. “We’ve weatherproofed the Furoshiki without sacrificing the signature comfort of the wrapping design.”

The ‘Oslo’ has a gusseted wing design that maintains the same wrapping style closure as other Vibram Furoshiki models, while also ensuring water, ice and snow are kept out.

The shoe also features Arctic Grip tread, which is designed for superior performance in winter conditions. Vibram described this technology as its “most advanced ever” when it unveiled it in 2016.

Now, in its third winter season, Vibram’s Arctic Grip technology has secured brand partners in new categories. For autumn 2018, Ugg has used it in a winter men’s boot, while Merrell has included it in a range of winter hiking boots.

“We could not have anticipated how popular Vibram Arctic Grip would be among consumers and partner brands,” said Lawrence Anastasi, director of sales at Vibram. “The visible performance on ice, coupled with the longevity you’d expect from a Vibram sole even after miles of wear, makes Arctic Grip one of our most popular soles.”
