Arc’teryx hosts 2017 Alpine Academy

Canadian outdoor brand hosted the 2017 edition of what it has called “the world’s largest alpine-education event” at Chamonix-Mont-Blanc between June 29 and July 2. The Arc’teryx Alpine Academy brings together alpine enthusiasts, mountain guides and professional athletes to create what the brand has described as “a unique experience where beginners and experts alike gain alpine knowledge through clinics, seminars, social festivities and experience-sharing”.

The event included a free-to-the-public climbing wall, bouldering wall for all levels, a repair centre for outdoor clothing and spaces for learning climbing techniques, mountain safety and even outdoor cooking techniques.

Athletes and mountain guides who took part this year included Ken Wylie, Tamara Lunger, Ines Papert and Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll.
