Helly Hansen celebrates the evolution of its Lifa technology

Helly Hansen claims to have been one of the first clothing companies to recognise the need for moisture-wicking technology in baselayer garments and, as a result, invented Lifa in 1970.
Since then, however, Lifa has “evolved dramatically”, the brand said on announcing the anniversary collection. Over the last 10 years alone, Lifa has been modified and improved over 50 times, it explained. “Lifa is incredibly complicated,” added Tor Jenssen, the brand’s managing director for the urban category. “Other companies have tried to replicate the same material, but can’t do it. There are so many different elements involved in the softness, yarn, smell, stretch, and more.”
