Two more brands sign up to use HeiQ technology
Two US apparel brands have signed up to use technical textile finishing products from Swiss textile effects provider HeiQ, joining a list of more than 150 brand partners.

Workwear brand Dickies launched HeiQ Smart Temp-empowered cooling tees to retailers at this year’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City (July 26-29). Also at the exhibition, activewear brand prAna launched a performance clothing collection that uses HeiQ Fresh Tech for odour control.

Dickies has called its new range Temp-iQ Advanced Cooling Tees, describing the shirts as being made like classic work tees while performing like athletic garments. It will be Dickies’ key product release for the spring 2018 season.

“We’re always mining for ways to keep workers comfortable while also integrating technologies that keep pushing us forward,” said Brian Sheedy, the brand’s senior vice-president of merchandising and design. “HeiQ’s technology actually responds to the body’s temperature changes by regulating moisture wicking, evaporation and cooling just like skin does naturally.”

For its part, prAna said it chose HeiQ Fresh Tech for its new performance collection because it wants wearers to be able to go straight from exercise to a social event without having to change clothes. Product developer Ellen Johnson said: “Polyester normally retains odours, which makes the versatility of garments made with this fibre very difficult. We have been looking for a sustainable anti-odour treatment option and are very excited about HeiQ because it is the first anti-odour chemical we found that is bluesign-approved. This makes it a no-brainer for us to use in our garments.”
