DuPont brings smart clothing technology to Outdoor Retailer

27/07/2017
The Advanced Materials division of DuPont is displaying its latest smart clothing technology at the ongoing Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, US (July 26-29).

These new materials are being unveiled alongside a new brand name for the technology, Intexar. They include stretchable electronic inks and films that can be used to transform regular fabrics into connected garments. This allows data like heart rate, breathing rate and muscle tension to be gathered.

DuPont has said that Intexar products offer “superior stretch and comfort” and that they can be easily integrated into garments using “standard apparel manufacturing processes”.

DuPont will also display garments powered by its Intexar technology in Salt Lake City.

A smart fitness shirt from Body Plus uses the technology to provide real-time monitoring and data. It is commercially available in China.

There will also be two products on show from OMsignal: a fitness sports bra and a lifestyle bra. They both feature advanced sensory technologies that capture real-time data on ECG, respiration and physical activity.
