Dow-DuPont merger is complete

01/09/2017
Chemical groups DuPont and Dow have announced the successful completion of the merger that they agreed at the end of 2015.

The companies initially planned for it to be completed in the first quarter of 2017, but this was delayed due to unforeseen difficulties in satisfying the approval conditions of the European Union.

Shares of DuPont and Dow ceased trading at the close of the New York Stock Exchange on August 31. From September 1, the new company, DowDuPont, has begun trading.

DuPont and Dow will now separate the merged company into three independent and publicly traded entities. This separation is expected to be completed within 18 months. Each company will have its own processes, people, assets, systems and licences in place, which will allow them to operate independently from the parent company.

One of these independent entities will be a material science company, which will assume the name Dow. It will consist of the businesses that comprise several Dow operating segments, including performance plastics, and performance materials & chemicals. It will be headquartered in Midland, Michigan.
