New training course boost Myanmar’s garment industry

04/09/2017
A new training programme has been launched to help garment and textile factories in Myanmar to improve their chemical management standards.

It forms part of the European Union-funded SMART Myanmar project, which was first launched in 2013. The project, which was renewed for four years in 2016, aims to promote the sustainable consumption and production of garments in Myanmar.

The new training programme will follow a curriculum developed by the Promotion of Social and Environmental Standards in the Industry (PSES) project, a joint initiative of the governments of Bangladesh and Germany. It will be implemented by development agency GIZ, which works on behalf of Germany’s federal ministry of economic cooperation and development (BMZ).
