Sanitized celebrates the rise of cross-country skiing
Antimicrobial finish developer Sanitized has said the growing popularity of cross-country (Nordic) skiing is something worth celebrating. The Swiss company has said that, while this type of skiing is “a fantastic outdoor experience”, it can generate high levels of perspiration, making technology that prevents unpleasant odour in clothing highly desirable.

Sanitized has said that cross-country skiing is booming in North America and becoming increasingly popular in Europe too, including in urban settings, while interest in Alpine skiing is “beginning to wane”. It believes that increased exposure to this activity at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea (February 9-25) will only increase its popularity; the Games will include 12 cross-country skiing and three combined Nordic skiing events.

“More and more people are discovering this sport,” Sanitized said at the start of the new winter sports season in the northern hemisphere. “This is great since aerobic exercise in fresh air is an ideal form of fitness training in the cold winter months. Cross-country skiing is an endurance sport that is gentle on the joints and makes the sweat pour out. Cross-country skiers have put their faith in functional textiles treated to combat nasty odours.”
