Ralph Lauren adds heat technology to US Olympic uniforms
23/01/2018
The heating system is made from electronic printed conductive inks, printed in the shape of an American flag in carbon and silver ink and bonded to the interior of the jackets.
The inks are flexible and stretchable, and connect to a battery pack that delivers 11 hours of heating.
The uniform is made in the US and includes a heated parka, jeans and a wool sweater. Accessories include a navy wool ski hat, a navy bandanna, a leather belt, brown suede explorer gloves and brown suede mountaineering boots.
David Lauren, chief innovation officer at Ralph Lauren, said: “The uniform celebrates the American spirit, with iconic pieces updated with modern details and technical fabrications.”
The opening ceremony will take place at the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on February 9.
In 2014, Ralph Lauren teamed up with wearable tech firm OMsignal to launch a range of polo shirts built with sensors that delivered physiological data directly to users via an app.
