US protects domestic polyester makers by raising import taxes
02/11/2017
The complaint was filed in May by US polyester fibre producers DAK Americas, Nan Ya Plastics and Auriga Polymers, which alleged imports of fine denier polyester staple fibre (PSF) from China, India, Korea and Taiwan, and subsidised imports of fine denier PSF from China and India are causing “material injury to the domestic industry”.
Fine denier PSF is typically converted either to yarn for weaving or knitting into fabric or to a non-woven textile.
The preliminary subsidy rates are:
from China
• Jiangyin Hailun Chemical Fiber: 41.73
• Jiangying Huahong Chemical Fiber: 47.64
• All others: 44.69
from India
• Bombay Dyeing & Mfg: 7.18
• Reliance Industries: 9.86
• All others: 9.37
